John Currie
9" x 12"
Oil on linen panel

This great old truck is resting by a hay barn on the back edges of a ranch in the Wyoming Rockies. What's not to like? It was painted ala prima plein air, which is not while eating an Italian casserole, but painted in one sitting outside on location. I liked the truck. I enjoyed making the painting. But the painting doesn't hang together the way I'd like. There was more variety in the foreground than what I painted--not that one has to be painfully faithful to what one sees--and the distant hills beyond the fence just seem a little dull and mossy. Hmmmm. What to do, what to do?...
