Winter River Valley

This is a memory painting.
On a return drive from installing an exhibit in Wisconsin, I passed thru the wide flat river valley of the Mississippi. I saw a fabulous sky with the sun just peeking thru a heavy cloud laden sky after a snow storm. I didn't have my paints or a camera, so I pulled over, and quickly pen sketched the view on the back of gas receipt. I barely had my coat off before I started the painting once I made it home. I am pleased with the mood and tones of the painting, it was a good challenge for my memory.

size: 3 x 5 Oil on artist panel
