Sunflowers always seem to bring cheer and joy!And they are the perfect flower to usher in Autumn.
This was a single stem paired with some eucalyptus greens tucked away in a little bottle. It sat on my studio desk just begging to be painted.

This would probably be more fitting for springtime but somewhere in the world, I believe there is a bunny sitting in the grass, in the sunshine.

I've lived in my house for about twelve years now and have encountered a lot of wildlife in my backyard but never a bunny until a couple years ago. And where there is one, eventually another ( or more) shows up. Surprisingly there has only been one other. Mama's little one joined in the fun this summer. They would venture out from beneath the deck and snack on the many dandelion greens growing in my yard. The little one would venture about the yard each time going farther  and going into the neighbor's yards. I would watch for her and warn her of the dangers out there. (I am very protective of my little ones!) I don't see her much in the winter but I am seeing tracks in the snow so I know she/they are still around. Isn't she cute? Her name is Charlotte.

Is it spring yet? Almost. But for many the question may be "is it done snowing yet?"

It will be nice to hear the nature's many songs again.

I'm finding chickens kind pretty interesting lately. There are so many kinds. And then there are those fancy exotic chickens that take on so many personalities just by their looks alone.

I'm presently getting ready for a show coming up in March at Squirehouse Gardens in Afton, Mn.

A little something in the spirit All Hallows Eve....

The original concept for this raven painting was quite different! Halfway into the process, I was less than thrilled with the results and was about ready to offer it up to the powers that be. After taking a break to think about it I decided to just let loose and quit thinking about it so much. I figure I had nothing to lose. This is the result. It's gritty, energetic and a bit mystical. And I like that.

I hold hope that spring is not far behind!  Just when I think I can actually smell spring in the air, we get a huge snow storm! I love the winter, I love the beauty of this winter wonderland left behind but I really am tired of shoveling right now. Soon, I think. In the meantime I will just keep painting the birds in anticipation of their showy color and their songs greeting me in the morning.

I recently spent some time painting and enjoying one of our many Minnesota lakes with artist Kristin Grevich. The weather was hot and  humid but that made for some great blues and grays mixed in with the abundance of green we have here in our Minnesota summer landscapes.

This was painted on a very textured  panel and the result is somewhat watercolor- like  in nature. I'm liking the looseness of it. It was fun to get out and paint outdoors again. I have to say the view,  location and the company I was keeping didn't hurt either!
