I love this little painting! This is one of those paintings that when I get done and take a closer look, I wonder how I did that!  I especially love the color palette with the soft grays and warm tones. 

This one may reincarnate in a larger version. Though I'm sure it won't look the same!

 While this is not this owl's call, that phrase keeps coming to mind. 

This fun little guy is an oil sketch of a burrowing owl in sitting position. He looks a bit serious or annoyed. I am playing with color combinations and there will be a larger version of this guy with a different background coming up.

The Sentry - watching guard over all. Seems like a noble profession, but more likely waiting for the merest morsel of food to be tossed aside, whereupon the cry goes out and dozens more seem to appear out of nowhere! These guys can be annoying at times but they are such an icon of seashore memories!

I hold hope that spring is not far behind!  Just when I think I can actually smell spring in the air, we get a huge snow storm! I love the winter, I love the beauty of this winter wonderland left behind but I really am tired of shoveling right now. Soon, I think. In the meantime I will just keep painting the birds in anticipation of their showy color and their songs greeting me in the morning.

Ravens and the moon have been on my mind lately. Of course with my fondness for ravens
that should come as no surprise. I also have some bigger pieces in the works along that same theme,

With both subjects wrapped in mystery and magic, this one would make a nice little piece for  the coming All Hollows Eve!

Another bear that projects an entirely different feeling. The last one loose and whimsical, this one

with a quiet more serious mood. 

I'm still exploring different techniques and textures and I love how in the process of painting, no matter how much you think you have a preconceived idea in your head, somehow the piece itself dictates the outcome.
