this is the time of the year when garden catalogs arrive and we order our seeds and plants for the gardens. We plant them and nourish them with great hopes for the future Years disappear and suddenly they are grown. Apple Lane, years ago this was planted with great care and now it's a lovely apple orchard planted in the valley along side the river against a great rocky outcropping. The winter sun is flooding my art studio ignoring the outdoor chill of this January day in the midwest. I am surrounded with the results of a month with no distractions. Fresh Paintings are drying in every corner, my journal is filled with new sketches and several canvases are in various stages of painting. I need to order more supplies but just dont want to take time away from this artistic flow. I do know that it's time I started sharing some of my new inspirations. These are all drawn from my reference photos taken thru the years, I have them conveniantly scrolling on my screen, whatever did we do before this world of digital photography. This particular painting is garden inspired, isnt it nice to know eventually warm weather returns?
